POSTDOC POSITION at the UNIVERSITY OF LISBON
The Department of Informatics (http://www.di.fc.ul.pt), University of
Lisbon (http://www.ul.pt), is seeking candidates for a post-doc
position, starting January 2002, and lasting up to three years.
The position is funded by the European Commission under the FET Global
Computing (http://www.cordis.lu/ist/fetgc-sy.htm) initiative, in the
context of Mikado (http://di.fc.ul.pt/~vv/mikado.html), a project that
aims to construct a programming model that supports reliable,
distributed mobile computations, and provides the mathematical basis
for secure distributed computing in open systems.
Mikado partners include INRIA, France Telecom R&D, University of
Florence, University of Sussex, and University of Lisbon, in a
thriving interaction, and engaged in regular visits among sites.
Building on the work on TyCO (http://www.di.fc.ul.pt/~vv/tyco.html),
the Lisbon site will focus on type systems, and virtual machine design
and implementation, counting with the collaboration of Antonio Ravara
(http://www.cs.math.ist.utl.pt/s84.www/cs/amar.html), Luis Lopes
(http://www.ncc.up.pt/~lblopes), and Fernando Silva
(http://www.ncc.up.pt/~fds).
We seek candidates with a strong background in some of the following
areas:
type systems,
process calculi,
formal verification,
program analysis and transformation,
language-based security,
mobile and distributed systems.
Salary is EUR 45.000 per annum, circa.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or
equivalent, and justified expertise on the project themes.
